The Sudan Traditional Food Festival (STFF) is the biggest cultural spectacle that happens in Sudan, where food, music, dance, and tradition all come together in perfect harmony to celebrate diversity.
Held at Khartoum International Fair’s grounds in 2015, the first edition of STFF attracted the largest crowd to ever attend a cultural event in Sudan. To celebrate the diversity of Sudan, the festival features more than 200 different foods, and music and dance performances all indigenous to the vast land of Sudan.

Khartoum – On the evening of Tuesday 21 November, in the International Fair of Khartoum grounds in Burri, the Sudan Traditional Food Festival (STFF) was launched.
The festival includes a number of internal exhibitions and outdoor activities meant to display and document all of the processes, activities, and rituals associated with the production and processing of traditional Sudanese foods.
Internal Exhibitions
The journey begins in Pavilion 1, taking guests through the Sudanese food chain; starting with the various agricultural operations, a display of machines used in agriculture, as well as a replica of the traditional Sudanese market (Souq) with food and drink samples to sip and savour. Visitors then continue to the traditional food processing methods section which includes a photography exhibition. The journey concludes in a traditional Sudanese kitchen– known as Tukul– where visitors are introduced to the different components, utensils, and tools, of an authentic Sudanese-style kitchen.
Outdoor Activities
Outdoor activities include folkloric musical and dance performances by bands from across the country, showcasing the rich artistic heritage of Sudan.
Attendees can also visit another ‘Sudanese Food Market’ area where a range of live food demonstrations take place. There is also a traditional market where traditional food products, pottery and handicrafts, as well as traditional cooking utensils are sold.
