I joined DAL Group (DFI Projects & Procurement) in early 2005 as a senior buyer. It was immediately after the business establishment and plant installation that real challenges began to appear, material supply was one of them. I was chosen (after an unforgettable interview) to assist in streamlining operations. In just three months I was pushed to the front as my direct manager was moved to perform another task. Luckily, our team was great and we managed, in one year, to re-structure the department, which led to my first step towards becoming a Procurement Manager. Over the years great enhancements were brought to the system, that’s when material shortages and charter planes became stories of the past.
The journey was definitely not an easy one. There have been moments of failure, disappointment, fear, sadness, and anger, but the ultimate outcome was great and I am pretty proud of everything we’ve achieved, but expecting more challenges ahead as “endings lead to new starts”.
